No Cities to Love

After the 2007 to 2013 hiatus of 90s punk rock band, Sleater-Kinney, their new album was released early this year. No Cities to Love features 10 tracks of raw intensity in controlled eloquence and artistry that only Brownstein, Weiss, and Tucker can pull off. If you’re a 90s kid in the 21st century surrounded by pop, hyped media, and habitual tolerance of the senseless, Sleater-Kinney reminds us that we can still make a difference and there’s still much to say and hope to change.

If you haven’t listened to the new album yet, check out this music video. S-K teamed up with director, screenwriter, author and overall amazing artist, Miranda July for this video of Bury Our Friends from the No Cities to Love album.

Also, an awesome fan girl of the Broad City and friend of mine recently shared with me this interview of Sleater-Kinney and Broad City stars and creators, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. It was more than an hour of dicussion on the S-K music, process, feminism, and Q&A (including a text-in question by Amy Poehler!). If you’re a fan or want to know more about Sleater-Kinney and Broad City, check this out! Thanks to NPR Music for this treat.

For me, No Cities to Love is definitely one of the best albums of 2015, and we’re not even halfway through this year yet. Well, here’s to more great music this year. Cheers, everyone!
